In today's fast-paced work environment, burnout is a common challenge faced by many professionals. This course, "Overcoming Workplace Burnout and Finding Satisfaction in Your 9-to-5” is designed to equip you with the tools and strategies needed to not only avoid burnout but to thrive in your professional life.

We will explore ancient wisdom techniques for managing stress, enhancing productivity, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Through interactive sessions and personal case studies, you will learn how to recognize the signs of burnout, implement effective coping mechanisms, and create a supportive work environment that promotes well-being and resilience.

Format

  • Duration: Six weeks of online classes.
  • Session Length: Each class is one and a half hours (90 minutes) per week.
  • Access to Recordings: Classes are recorded, and you will have access to these recordings for personal use for six months.
  • Weekly Structure: Each week features a short presentation, experiential practices, and discussion.
  • Community Engagement: An online community portal allows you to interact and dialogue with fellow students between classes.
  • Supplemental Readings: Students are encouraged to purchase The Gift of Work: Overcoming Workplace Burnout and Finding Satisfaction in Your 9-to-5 which provides the basis for the class.  Additional supplemental readings and articles will be available through the Dharma College Community Portal during the week for those who wish to deepen their understanding.

Senior Instructors

Wangmo Dixey

Wangmo Dixey was born in Berkeley, California, in 1969, is the eldest daughter of Venerable Tarthang Tulku. In addition to her role as Director of the College, she is Executive Director of the Light of Buddhadharma Foundation International and President of the International Buddhist Association of America. She has been awarded many international accolades for her work in Asia. She holds a BA in International Relations from UCLA and an MA in International Development from American University. Married to Dr. Richard Dixey, she has two children. She was awarded an honorary Ph.D. from Mahachulalongkorn Rajavidyalaya university in Bangkok in 2023.

Teri Beckman

Teri Beckman leads HIGOL, a boutique coaching and consulting company that works with mission-driven leaders to help them increase their community impact and revenue within their organizations by aligning their human, technical, financial resources with their vision.  She has studied and practiced Skillful Means and Buddhist psychology as presented by Tarthang Tulku for thirty years.  She has a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of Chapel Hill and is a graduate of the Body Therapy Institute, Spirit of Learning Teacher Training.
