Course Description
Many of us spend our lives living primarily in our thoughts. We move from one responsibility to the next, caught in planning, remembering, worrying, and problem solving. Even during moments of rest, the mind often remains busy, carrying us away from the immediacy and richness of our lived experience. Over time, we can begin to feel disconnected not only from our bodies, but from a deeper sense of vitality, presence, and connection with life itself.
Yet beneath the busyness of the mind lies another possibility. Drawing upon the Tibetan Kum Nye tradition developed by Tarthang Tulku and inspired by Bruce Alderman’s book Feeling Fully Alive, this six-week experiential course offers a practical pathway back to the wisdom of the body.
Kum Nye combines gentle movement, self-massage, breathing practices, relaxation, and awareness exercises that help release accumulated tension while awakening a deeper sensitivity to our physical, emotional, and energetic experience.
As tension softens, we begin to discover that the body is not merely a vehicle carrying us through life it is a profound source of intelligence, balance, and well-being. Through simple practices that can be integrated into daily life, participants learn how to cultivate greater ease, deepen awareness, and reconnect with the natural vitality that is often hidden beneath stress and habitual patterns of living. Rather than striving to become someone different, this course invites us to slow down, listen more deeply, and rediscover the richness of experience that is already present. When we learn to inhabit the body fully, ordinary moments can become sources of nourishment, joy, and insight.
The result is not simply greater relaxation, but a renewed sense of aliveness a feeling of being fully present to ourselves, others, and the world around us.

About Kum Nye
Kum Nye is a Tibetan system of relaxation and embodied awareness introduced to the West by Tibetan meditation master Tarthang Tulku. Through gentle movement, breathing, self-massage, and awareness exercises, Kum Nye helps dissolve habitual tension while awakening greater sensitivity, vitality, and presence. Rather than focusing on achievement or performance, Kum Nye encourages a direct experience of balance, openness, and well-being that can enrich every aspect of life.
