Mind in Real Time

Mar 14,2017 - Apr 18,2017 Time: 9:30 am - 11:00 am
Tuesdays, March 14-April 18, 9:30am-11am Instructor: Robin Caton Time agitates and confuses us. Not understanding impermanence, we become stuck in the past and anxious about the future. This online course explores the intriguing relationship between mind and time. When we begin to examine time under the ‘magnifying glass of awareness’, we discover that past, present, and future may not be immutable qualities of time, but conceptual frameworks marked out by mind to allow experience to arise. Then what accounts for the continuity of ‘me’? And where am ‘I’ before mind marks out time?

Path to Wholeness

Mar 15,2017 - Apr 19,2017 Time: 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Wednesdays, March 15-April 19, 10:30am-12pm Instructor: Robin Caton We continue our journey into understanding mind that was introduced in Revelations of Mind. New texts by Tarthang Tulku serve as additional guides on the path to wholeness, which, as the author reminds us, “is never wholly for ourselves. For real wholeness is always communicated to others, in spreading ripples of positive influence and deep appreciation.” This continuing course is based on sections from Dimensions of Mind and Keys of Knowledge.

Mar 15,2017 - Apr 19,2017 Time: 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Wednesdays, March 15-April 19, 5:30-7pm, Instructor: Jack Petranker When we can be in the center of experience, taking no positions, our limits lose the structure that supports them and collapse into freedom. This continuing course works with Part 3 of Dimensions of Mind.

Communicating with Kindness and Clarity

Mar 16,2017 - Apr 20,2017 Time: 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Thursdays, March 16-April 20, 5:30-7pm, Instructor: Abbe Blum Mind’s automatic way of responding to situations can result in many communication difficulties. For example, if we have a pattern of using harsh words, we may find we escalate rather than resolve situations. If we are afraid to speak up, we may develop a lack of confidence. In this course we’ll bring awareness to our mental patterns and learn simple, effective methods to communicate kindly and clearly. Join us for a transformative journey designed to strengthen relationships and bring our actions into harmony with our deepest aspirations.

Revealing Mind

Mar 17,2017 - Apr 21,2017 Time: 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Fridays, March 17-April 21, 10-11:30am, Instructor: Richard Dixey In this one-year course about mind, identity and the nature of reality, we study Revelations of Mind for the second, third or fourth time. These readings move deeper, toward seeing specific self-interpretations and readouts in action in your immediate experience. At this point, you could say, “Now I see what I am doing.”

Developing Flexibility of Body, Breath and Mind

Mar 18,2017 - Apr 22,2017 Time: 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Saturdays, March 18-April 22, 10-11:30am, Instructor: Abbe Blum Our usual ways of behaving, and of exercising our senses, funnel us through four patterns: I, Me, Mine, and Mind. If we understand those patterns, we can engage experience differently and enjoy a new kind of knowledge. This course combines observation, creative experimentation, and sense practices. We will work closely with a variety of books by Tarthang Tulku, including Revelations of Mind and Dimensions of Mind, that encourage flexibility, curiosity, and genuine satisfaction in our embodied experience.

Workshop - Inner Light: Opening the Senses to Beauty

Apr 8,2017 - Time: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Saturday, April 8, 10am-1pm, Instructor: Abbe Blum Mind seems to have an affinity for beauty, no matter what our definition of beauty may be. Beauty, in turn, bathes the mind in joy. In this workshop, we will introduce teachings about the mind and experiential practices that develop the positive aspects of engaging with beauty. The mind relaxes, the senses expand, and a natural appreciation for self and the world arises.

Workshop - Inner Light: Opening the Mind to Caring

Apr 22,2017 - Time: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Saturday, April 22, 1-4pm, Instructor: Abbe Blum Sometimes we find ourselves overwhelmed by feelings of frustration. If we react automatically when these arise, we may say and do things we later regret.  In today’s workshop, we’ll explore patterns of mind, body and senses that lead to irritated feelings. Through interactive dialog, and gentle yet focused experiential exercises, we learn to explore whatever appears and make space for the natural arising of loving-kindness. We benefit self and others as we do this.
