Freedom from Mind’s Patterns

Aug 1,2017 - Aug 22,2017 Time: 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Tuesdays, August 1st – August 22nd, 5:30 – 7:00 pm Instructor: Robin Caton Without understanding mind and self, we are the victims of stale mental patterns: tied to old ways of perceiving, thinking and acting, we cannot see our situation freshly. We are able to choose a more meaningful life—and a kinder, more compassionate journey. Week One, August 1: This is the way I am! Week Two, August 8: Stuck in Mental Traffic Week Three, August 15: Observation and Understanding Week Four, August 22: Distinguishing What Has Value

Exploring Mind and Self

Sep 16,2017 - Oct 28,2017 Time: 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Saturdays, September 16th – October 28th, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm Instructor: Abbe Blum

If we don’t know how mind operates, how can we know who we are? This introductory course based on Revelations of Mind, by Tarthang Tulku, explores self-knowing from the perspective of inner experience. What do we mean by ‘mind’? How do mind and ‘I’ relate to each other? And why does life have so many problems? We read and dialogue, engage the mind and gently observe. Practices will be introduced for mind, senses, and body that bring ease and openness to everyday life.

There will be no class October 21st.

Open to all. New students may try the first class with no obligation.
