Exploring Mind and Self

Sep 16,2017 - Oct 28,2017 Time: 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Saturdays, September 16th – October 28th, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm Instructor: Abbe Blum

If we don’t know how mind operates, how can we know who we are? This introductory course based on Revelations of Mind, by Tarthang Tulku, explores self-knowing from the perspective of inner experience. What do we mean by ‘mind’? How do mind and ‘I’ relate to each other? And why does life have so many problems? We read and dialogue, engage the mind and gently observe. Practices will be introduced for mind, senses, and body that bring ease and openness to everyday life.

There will be no class October 21st.

Open to all. New students may try the first class with no obligation.

Light of Understanding – Online Course

Oct 31,2017 - Dec 12,2017 Time: 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Tuesdays, October 31st – December 12th, 10 – 11:30 am Instructor: Robin Caton In this online course, we shine a light of understanding on mind. Old assumptions about language, time, and perception are examined freshly through inquiry and practice. Greater self-knowledge and inner calm are the natural results. This online course is fully interactive; we discuss and practice as though we are together in a classroom. Classes are recorded and students receive a link if they have to miss. Maximum class size is 15. Pre-registration is required.

Confused Mind is Not My Friend

Nov 4,2017 - Dec 16,2017 Time: 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Saturdays, November 4th – December 16th, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm Instructor: Abbe Blum How can we possibly make decisions wisely while our thoughts and emotions swirl and converge like a mental traffic jam? In this course, we will look more closely at the rapid, continuous way our mind constructs our ‘reality’. The result is often an inability to know who we are, or what we deeply value. Through practice, discussion, and guided observation, we begin to clear space for a new, and more authentic way of being.
