Turning to Understanding – Online Course

Tuesdays, September 12th – October 17th, 10 – 11:30 am
Instructor: Robin Caton

Join a global community of curious and caring thinkers as we turn to understanding through inquiry, dialogue, and contemplative practices. As we examine mind and self more closely, old assumptions fall away, allowing everyday life to become a laboratory for new ways of knowing. This course is open to all, but is especially designed for those who have taken one or more classes at Dharma College and are ready to explore experience more deeply.

This online course is fully interactive; we discuss and practice as though we are together in a classroom. Classes are recorded and students receive a link if they have to miss. Maximum class size is 15. Pre-registration is required.

Path to Wholeness

Wednesdays, September 13th – October 18th , 10:30 am – Noon
Instructor: Robin Caton

We continue our year-long study of the structure of mind, time, and self, guided by Dimensions of Mind and Keys of Knowledge. These recent books by Tibetan Lama Tarthang Tulku open a path to wholeness, which, as the author says, “is never wholly for our selves. For real wholeness is always communicated to others in spreading ripples of positive influence and deep appreciation.

Students who have not taken ‘Path to Wholeness’ before may enroll this term with the consent of the Instructor.

Hidden Dimensions of Mind: Who’s Thinking?

Wednesdays, September 13th – October 18th, 7:00 – 8:30 pm
Instructor: Jack Petranker

New and returning students are warmly invited to attend this first term of a year-long course based on Dimensions of Mind, an accessible yet sophisticated text written in the form of a dialogue between teacher and student. Taught by Jack Petranker, the book’s editor, this course introduces a path of self-observation “in which mind freely dialogues with mind.” Key questions and practices will be introduced that release stale emotional and conceptual patterns, and cultivate a brighter, more open way of being.

Open to everyone!  New students may try the first class with no obligation.

Looking Inward, Developing Ease

Location: Rossmoor Community in Walnut Creek
Thursdays, September 14th – October 19th, 1:30 – 3:00
Instructor: Robin Caton

Learning to look inward, we begin to harmonize heart and mind, bringing insight to our experience. Inquiring further, we see how the basic structures of the human mind, including language and memory, create and sustain our sense of dis-ease.

New students may try the first class with no obligation.

Revealing Mind

Fridays, September 15th – October 20th, 10:00 – 11:30 am
Instructor: Richard Dixey

In this two-year course about mind, identity and the nature of reality, we read and study Revelations of Mind for the third or fourth time.

No class on September 29 and October 6.

New students may join with the consent of the Director.

Exploring Mind and Self

Saturdays, September 16th – October 28th, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm
Instructor: Abbe Blum

If we don’t know how mind operates, how can we know who we are? This introductory course based on Revelations of Mind, by Tarthang Tulku, explores self-knowing from the perspective of inner experience. What do we mean by ‘mind’? How do mind and ‘I’ relate to each other? And why does life have so many problems? We read and dialogue, engage the mind and gently observe. Practices will be introduced for mind, senses, and body that bring ease and openness to everyday life.

There will be no class October 21st.

New students may try the first class with no obligation.
