Mind in ‘Real’ Time – Online Course

Tuesdays, March 14-April 18, 9:30am-11am
Instructor: Robin Caton

We are pleased to announce our first ever online course. Dharma College director, Robin Caton will be teaching in a live online format that will allow you to participate from anywhere in the world. Using video conferencing technology, everyone participating in the class will be able to see, hear, and write to everyone else. As we hope that this new platform will bring us closer together, our intention remains to keep the class size small and intimate. Limited seats are available, so don’t wait to sign up!

Time agitates and confuses us. Not understanding impermanence, we become stuck in the past and anxious about the future. This online course explores the intriguing relationship between mind and time. When we begin to examine time under the ‘magnifying glass of awareness’, we discover that past, present, and future may not be immutable qualities of time, but conceptual frameworks marked out by mind to allow experience to arise. Then what accounts for the continuity of ‘me’? And where am ‘I’ before mind marks out time? Open to All!

We are offering a 25% discount on this course if you sign up by March 3rd.

Path to Wholeness

Wednesdays, March 15-April 19, 10:30am-12pm
Instructor: Robin Caton

We continue our journey into understanding mind that was introduced in Revelations of Mind. New texts by Tarthang Tulku serve as additional guides on the path to wholeness, which, as the author reminds us, “is never wholly for ourselves. For real wholeness is always communicated to others, in spreading ripples of positive influence and deep appreciation.” This continuing course is based on sections from Dimensions of Mind and Keys of Knowledge.

Second Level courseSecond Level courses are for those who have already taken three or more Dharma College courses and are ready to move more deeply into the material. If you have not yet met those requirements, the consent of the instructor is required to join a Second-level course.

Self-Liberation

Wednesdays, March 15-April 19, 5:30-7pm,
Instructor: Jack Petranker

Jack Petranker

When we can be in the center of experience, taking no positions, our limits lose the structure that supports them and collapse into freedom. This continuing course works with Part 3 of Dimensions of Mind.

Practicing the Positive

Thursdays, March 16-April 20, 1:30-3pm, at Rossmoor, in Walnut Creek.
Instructor: Robin Caton

When things are going well, we find it easy to remain clear-minded and warm-hearted. But when things happen that we don’t like, we often lose our heads; when the people we encounter disturb us, we stop wishing them well. We see the unhappy results of this today as impatience and anger set the terms of discourse. We do not need to accept this way of being! This course introduces practices that cultivate postitive qualities of mind. Joy, compassion, love, and peace open the way for healing conflict in ourselves and the world.

First Level courseFirst level courses are for students who are beginning or continuing their studies at Dharma College. They are open to everyone, with no prerequisites.

Communicating with Kindness and Clarity

Thursdays, March 16-April 20, 5:30-7pm,
Instructor: Abbe Blum

Abbe Blum

Mind’s automatic way of responding to situations can result in many communication difficulties. For example, if we have a pattern of using harsh words, we may find we escalate rather than resolve situations. If we are afraid to speak up, we may develop a lack of confidence. In this course we’ll bring awareness to our mental patterns and learn simple, effective methods to communicate kindly and clearly. Join us for a transformative journey designed to strengthen relationships and bring our actions into harmony with our deepest aspirations.

Revealing Mind

Fridays, March 17-April 21, 10-11:30am,
Instructor: Richard Dixey

In this one-year course about mind, identity and the nature of reality, we study Revelations of Mind for the second, third or fourth time. These readings move deeper, toward seeing specific self-interpretations and readouts in action in your immediate experience. At this point, you could say, “Now I see what I am doing.”

Third Level courseThird level courses are for students who have studied at Dharma College for one year or more and have already taken six or more courses. If you have not met those requirements, the consent of the director is required to join a Third level course.

Developing Flexibility of Body, Breath, and Mind

Saturdays, March 18-April 22, 10-11:30am,
Instructor: Abbe Blum

Our usual ways of behaving, and of exercising our senses, funnel us through four patterns: I, Me, Mine, and Mind. If we understand those patterns, we can engage experience differently and enjoy a new kind of knowledge. This course combines observation, creative experimentation, and sense practices. We will work closely with a variety of books by Tarthang Tulku, including Revelations of Mind and Dimensions of Mind, that encourage flexibility, curiosity, and genuine satisfaction in our embodied experience.  NEW COURSE!
